Fred. Olsen Windcarrier finished installing 56 V164-8.0MW turbines on Borkum Riffgrund 2 in the German North Sea on 31 August 2018. The project was completed ahead of schedule. The offshore wind park will supply enough energy for 460.000 German households with a total power output of 450MW.
Transportation and installation of 56 V164-8.0MW turbines
On 31 August 2018, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up installation vessel Bold Tern successfully installed the final turbine, completing the installation of MHI Vestas turbines at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 Offshore Wind Farm ahead of schedule. The 56 V164-8.0MW turbines will have a total output of 450MW. The Borkum Riffgrund 2 Offshore Wind Farm is located 57 km off the north-west coast of Germany, and will provide up to 460,000 households with clean energy.

In June, four turbines were installed in just four days and in the beginning of August, the wind farm delivered first power.
