Fred. Olsen Windcarrier awarded turbine installation contract for Moray East Offshore Wind Project

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has been awarded a contract by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind for the transport and installation of 100 V164-9.5MW wind turbines for the Moray East project off the East coast of Scotland. The project totals 950MW and the turbine installation is scheduled to commence in the beginning of 2021.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will deploy one of the Tern Class vessels for the project, using the Port of Invergordon, which has been selected, as the pre-assembly harbour.

However, the Moray East contract award is the first installation contract where Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is contracted directly by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. Moray East Offshore Wind Project

Moray East is a 950MW offshore wind project 22km off the coast of Scotland and is the first part of the Moray Firth Zone to be developed. The total windfarm area is 295km2. When finished, Moray East Offshore Wind Project will be able to supply electricity to more than 1.000.000 UK households.
