Final turbines installed on Wikinger

On 22 October 2017, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up installation vessel Brave Tern successfully installed the final turbine, completing the installation of Adwen turbines at the Wikinger Offshore Wind Farm. The 70 AD 5-135 turbines will have a total output of 350MW.

“I am very proud of our team for their hard work on this project,”

said Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s project manager Alexandra Koefoed. “We have worked closely with our client Adwen and park operator Iberdrola to safely and efficiently complete installation. Our experience working on the Adwen 5MW turbines on Global Tech I was invaluable.”

Fred. Olsen related company Global Wind Service (GWS) supplied 40 installation technicians for the project, with over 100 more for QA, completion and service.

“Working together with our related company meant that we were able to work together to deliver a great performance,” said Michael Høj Olsen, CCO of GWS.

The Wikinger Offshore Wind Farm is located off the island of Rügen in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and will provide over 240,000 households with clean energy.

Brave Tern is currently being demobilised and GWS technicians will stay on-site to complete non-conformity reporting (NCR), completion and 500-hour service checks.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier and GWS joined the project at the turn of the year.
